This is a superb route up to Selside Pike and Branstree from Mardale Head. Parking is free at Mardale and the route follows the Old Corpse Road before turning south and ascending to Selside Pike. From here a ridge route leads you across open moor to the summit of Branstree. The route down follows Gatesgarth Pass, descending gently back to Mardale Head.
